HOOKMAN by Lauren Yee To Be Presented By Bump in the Night Theatre
The existential slasher comedy, directed by Garrett Michael McCann, runs at Bramble Arts Loft.
This May, Bump in the Night Theatre, Chicago's Horror Theatre, will present Hookman by Lauren Yee. Opening May 15th at Bramble Arts Loft, this shockingly relatable show gives a peek into the impact of grief and trauma while leaving plenty of room for bizarre humor and delicious violence.
Freshman year at college is hard when your roommate is weird, you're feeling homesick, and a hook-handed serial killer is slashing girls' throats. But if Lexi can discover what really happened to her high school Best Friend on that car ride to the movies, everything will be okay. In this existential slasher comedy, Lexi and her friends learn what it means to grow up - and it's not pretty.
Directed by Bump in the Night's Artistic Director Garrett Michael McCann (he/him). Hookman features the talents of Valerie Martire, Madelyn Strasma, Ben Sanchez, Elizabeth Yang, Ava Pirie, Anuoluwa Awolola with understudies Anika Flores, Rachel Herriges, Tina-Kim Nguyen, and Jensen Hill.
Hookman is assistant directed by Ethan Smith and features lighting design by Chelsea Strebe, costume design by Holly Osborn, sound/scenic design by Garrett Michael McCann, dramaturgy by Isabelle Cheng, and stage managed by Dita Frank & Taylor Cook.
Hookman runs from May 15th to 30th at Bramble Arts Loft (5545 N Clark Street, 2nd Floor)
