As BWW previously reported, a new MAGIC MIKE stage musical is currently in the works from Tom Kitt, Brian Yorkey and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Now, HAMILTON's Jon Rua has posted a photo on Instagram from a recent reading for the show, and it looks like his HAMILTON co-star Chris Jackson was also involved.

No word on what this means for MAGIC MIKE's Broadway and/or Las Vegas plans, but BroadwayWorld will keep our ears to the ground. In the meantime, check out the behind-the-scenes photo below!

Derek Klena and Taylor Louderman also participated in a previous reading of the work-in-progress in April.

The film franchise star Channing Tatum, who will produce the musical, recently confirmed that the show will eventually head to the Great White Way, while also later hinting that it could debut in Las Vegas. Back in April, the actor gave an update on the status of the stage adaptation, sharing "It is still in the works. We're getting it going."

The show will reportedly be produced by Tatum alongside film franchise screenwriter Reid Carolin under the banner of their Production Company, Iron Horse Entertainment, along with the film's director Steven Soderbergh, Gregory Jacobs, and Nick Wechsler. In the past, Carolin has shared that the stage musical would be "a different story, more of a romp, more of a fun night out at a club with a story."

As BWW previously reported, Reid Carolin, screenwriter for the new film, is currently working on a 'spin-off' of the movie, which he plans to bring to Broadway as a new musical. "We are working on it as a Broadway show, which would be a different story, more of a romp, more of a fun night out at a club with a story," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm almost more excited about that than the movie because I think it's the perfect thing for women to go see on Broadway, to be participants in the show."

The original film MAGIC MIKE, hit theaters in 2012 and earned a whopping $114 million at the box office. Steven Soderbergh's movie starred Tatum alongside Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganielloand centered on a rebellious 19-year-old kid (Pettyfer) looking for independence from his family. He meets Magic Mike (Tatum), who seems like the perfect role model -- he's got a nice car, a nice apartment, and a seemingly endless supply of women. He also happens to be a male stripper. The MAGIC MIKE sequel hit theaters in July.
