Bamingboye: HAIR Will 'Let The Sunshine In' at West End's Gielgud Theatre Beginning April 1st, 2010

The UK Daily Mail is reporting that the Tony Award-winning revival of HAIR is set to bring that Broadway "free love" to the Gielgud Theatre in the West End.

HAIR performances are set to begin on April 1st with an April 14 opening to follow. Tony nominee Diane Paulus will recreate her acclaimed helming duties for the London production.

Oskar Eustis, artistic director of New York's Public Theatre, revealed to the Mail's Baz Bamigboye that the plan is to bring the Broadway cast of HAIR running at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre to the Gielgud Theatre, Eustis said that negotiations are going on to transfer the Broadway company to the Gielgud.

Directed by Diane Paulus and choreographed by Karole Armitage, HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot.

The new Broadway production of HAIR is the winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. The Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle also honored the production with their 2009 award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical.
