Guitarist Goran Ivanovic to Perform New Album at Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor
The Chicago-based classical guitarist blends Balkan folk influences with cinematic soundscapes on his new solo record.
Chicago-based guitarist and composer Goran Ivanovic will celebrate the release of his new album, FAR AWAY FEELING, with a special performance in Ann Arbor on Thursday, June 25.
A classically trained musician known for blending virtuosic technique with Balkan folk traditions and cinematic soundscapes, Ivanovic has earned acclaim for creating music that bridges genres while remaining deeply personal and expressive. His performances move seamlessly between intimate acoustic passages and technically dazzling guitar work performed on both classical and acoustic instruments.
Born in Croatia, Ivanovic spent his formative years amid the turmoil of the Balkan conflict, experiences that helped shape his musical voice. Drawing inspiration from flamenco, jazz, classical music, rock and the folk traditions of his homeland, he has developed a distinctive style that reflects a wide range of cultural influences.
Recognized by Acoustic Guitar magazine and praised for his genre-defying approach, Ivanovic has built a reputation as one of the leading acoustic guitarists of his generation. His compositions combine technical sophistication with emotional storytelling, creating music that feels both contemporary and timeless.
The Ann Arbor concert will offer audiences an opportunity to hear material from FAR AWAY FEELING, Ivanovic's latest solo recording, which was released in March 2026. The performance is expected to feature selections from the new album alongside works from throughout his career.
Presented in the intimate setting and renowned acoustics of Kerrytown, the concert is designed to showcase Ivanovic's intricate guitar work and evocative compositions, offering both longtime fans and newcomers an introduction to his latest musical chapter.
