Graceland/Asleep on the Wind will fill the intimate Kennedy Theatre at the BTI Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh, NC from June 15th to June 26th, as part of Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy's six-show summer series.
"Graceland/Asleep on the Wind by Ellen Byron are two stories about true-blue Elvis fans Bev (Sherrie Sutton) and Rootie (Estelle Collins) who are camped out before the gates of Graceland, each determined to be the first to enter the sacred precinct. Then theatregoers will journey back in time ten years before Graceland's opening for Asleep on the Wind to a small clearing in Bayou Teche, Louisiana. This is the "special place" that Rootie refers to in the other play and where Rootie and her favorite brother, Beau (Chris Chappell), come to share their secrets," as the show is described in a press release.

Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy runs though August 28, 2005 with each production in the six-show series completing a 10-day run. Recently, Kate Shindle and Nicholas Rodriguez starred in its inaugural show, a hit production of The Last Five Years. Other shows in the season include Proof, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Starting Here, Starting Now and a special season ender featuring Raleigh's own Lauren Kennedy and her husband Alan Campbell In Concert. Other stars in the summer season include Matt Bogart and Jessica Boevers.
