Goldsberry Among Daytime Emmy Nominees; Show Airs 4/28

Theatre stars Renee Elise Goldsberry, Ron Raines and Robert Newman are among the nominees of the 2006 33rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which will be telecast from L.A.'s Kodak Theatre tonight, April 28th, at 8 PM.

The creative arts categories were previously awarded in ceremonies held simultaneously in New York and L.A. on April 22nd.

Goldsberry, who created the role of Nettie in The Color Purple and also appeared in The Public Theater's Two Gentlemen of Verona, is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work on ABC's "One Life to Live."

Raines, who has appeared on Broadway in Chicago, Teddy & Alice and Show Boat, received a nod as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his work on "Guiding Light." Robert Newman, who co-stars on the same CBS daytime drama, received a nomination under the same category. Newman has appeared regionally in many musicals and plays including A Little Night Music at the Pittsburgh CLO and Nine at North Shore Music Theatre.
