Georgia Ensemble Theatre Conservatory Welcomes Students from Hangzhou, China Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's own professional theatre company and conservatory welcomes six Chinese students and their families to participate in a week of GET's Conservatory summer theatre camp. All the way from Hangzhou, Hunan Province in China, the students and their families will join GET's conservatory students in Roswell, GA for part two of the new cultural exchange with a Chinese-based company called 'Future Star'.

Our Conservatory leadership, Laurel Crowe and Michael Vine, along with Curriculum Development Teaching Artist Jessica De Maria recently traveled to China at the end of March for ten days. They engaged in a combination of observing, presenting their skills and explaining their training processes to the Chinese families, as well as teaching workshops with the children. Now they invite the Chinese teaching artists to do the same, right here in Roswell, Georgia.

While the Atlanta International Cultural Exchange has partnered with other schools (Georgia Tech, Killian Hill Christian School, Brandon Hall), this is the first partnership with a professional theatre and conservatory aimed at teaching Chinese children drama and music.

The Chinese students will participate alongside American students in a one-week Mash Up Madness summer camp, where they will take classes in scene-study, voice, movement and improvisation. There will be a public performance showcase of their work Friday, July 13th at 4:00pm.

In addition to camp, GET will host a Welcome Party for the exchange students, followed by a picnic and preview of Ring of Fire at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, a potluck dinner with the Board and Staff of GET, and a Closing Ceremony after their showcase on Friday.
