Anyone who's ever grown up in a small town has always wanted at one time or another to move to the big city for excitement, adventure or just to escape the tedium of home. Take Fiona Walsh, who details her childhood experiences in her one-woman show GREAT AMERICAN WHITE TEETH, which will begin a limited run at the Where Eagles Dare Theatre, located at 347 West 36th Street, beginning November 16th

Originally from Roscrea, Ireland (the home of Roscrea Bacon) a community so tiny everybody knows everybody's business - and carries grudges for years, Fiona passes the time daydreaming about having special powers (such as spoon bending) to smite her enemies and save her from this hum-drum existence. Her holy grail finally appears to her on a magazine - America - land of the brave and home of the free-or something like that. Besides, that's where she'll find the love of her life, Warren Beatty.

Of course making it to America is not that simple, but with a little chicanery, fudging of the truth - she's got it made, or at least it appears that way. But even if she gets there, what's gong to happen when she finds out that Studio 54 is closed??

A writer and performer, Fiona Walsh has worked in Ireland, England and the United States. Her favorite stage roles include Nellie Nora in Eclipsed at the Irish Repertory Theatre, Moya in The Shaughraun (also at Irish Rep), Sister Impartial in Celtic Tiger (me arse!) at the Irish Arts Center and The Yellow Peril in Da, at the Guthrie Theatre, directed by Doug Hughes. Among her NYC writing credits are While You Were Out, a one-act play and Irish Soap, a spoof on both soap operas and the Irish people. She also co-adapted Irish Soap into a television pilot which was submitted to RTE (Irish National TV). She has written two short films: Going Without and ErectOStop - which was chosen Most Outrageous Comedy at the Giggleshorts Festival in Toronto and has played at film festivals in the U.S. and Ireland. This past year, Fiona made her stand-up comedy debut and has performed at The Duplex, Laugh Lounge, New York Comedy Improv, Carolines and The Comic Strip, among other clubs. She was also a contestant in the Ladies of Laughter Competition in August. She's performed her show GREAT AMERICAN WHITE TEETH at the Midtown International Theatre Festival, The Annual Women's Arts Festival in Asbury Park, NJ and at The Pit in New York City.
