Exit 82 Celebrates Grand Opening Of Theater Space with THE DROWSY CHAPERONE Exit 82 Theatre Company opens the Exit 82 Studio Theater, an immersive theater venue, on Main Street in downtown Toms River on July 6, 2018 with the company's revival of the Tony Award winning musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. The space offers a unique, intimate theater experience and is BYOB for patrons over the age of 21 (beer and wine only).

"Our hope is for the Exit 82 Studio Theater to become a staple of our community and give a whole new meaning to the phrase 'community theater.' We want the Exit 82 Studio Theater to be a place for everyone in our community to not only be entertained but join us to be creative and feel accepted," says Founder and Executive Producer, Keely Davenport. When asked how the cast and creative team is working in the new theater Davenport replied, "It's almost as if The Drowsy Chaperone was written to be performed in an immersive space like this."

Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone features one show-stopping song and dance number after another.? Taking place in a New York City apartment, a man in a chair takes us through his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Hailed by New York Magazine as "The Perfect Broadway Musical," The Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre. As quoted in the show, "it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world and it gives you a tune to carry in your head for when you're feeling blue."

The Drowsy Chaperone runs every weekend in July; Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are general admission and are $25 for adults and $23 for seniors. Group rates and ADA seating are also available. Performances held at the Exit 82 Studio Theater, 73 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Tickets on sale now at www.exit82theatre.com.
