On August 21st, composer Scott Alan will take the stage at the Laurie Beechman Theatre for a 7pm show.

Alan will premiere new material from his upcoming CD "A Perfect World' as well as material from his new musical Piece.  In addition to Alan's performance, audiences can expect to hear Wicked's Eden Espinosa, Aida's Nikki Renee Daniels and singer/actress Katie Thompson take the stage to perform a medley from Piece, which was just announced for the NAMT Festival in October. More performers will be announced shortly.

The evening will be musically directed by Barbara Anselmi, who will also provide new arrangements for the evening.

Alan has written the book, music and lyrics for the musical Detour which ran for an extended, sold-out, 10 week run at the Complex Theater in Los Angeles.  Stephanie J. Block, Alison Fraser, Liz Callaway, Billy Porter, Shoshana Bean, Kerry Butler, and Julia Murney are among those who have sung his music. Starting as a solo performer signed to a label deal, he moved on and quickly found his home working as an assistant Musical Director in Los Angeles, where he worked with stars such as Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.  He is currently finishing developing and preparing  Piece.  Alan also produces the acclaimed series "Monday Nights, New Voices."

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located inside the West Bank Café at 407 West 42nd Street at Ninth Avenue.  There is a $15 cover charge and a $15 food/drink minimum. Call (212) 695-6909 for reservations between the hours of noon and 8 PM.
