Emeritus Kurt Masur to Conduct TWO PATHS at NY Philharmonic, 4/13

New York Philharmonic Music Director Emeritus Kurt Masur will conduct the Philharmonic in Liszt's Les Préludes, Sofia Gubaidulina's Two Paths: Music for Two Solo Violists and Symphony Orchestra, performed by PrincipAl Viola Cynthia Phelps and Associate PrincipAl Viola Rebecca Young, and Brahms's Symphony No. 1, Wednesday, April 13, 2011, and Thursday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 16, at 8:00 p.m.
Two Paths was originally commissioned by Mr. Masur's wife, Tomoko Masur, for Ms. Phelps and Ms. Young and received its World Premiere in April 1999. Mr. Masur will conduct the same program at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Friday, April 15, 2011, at 8:00 p.m.- Pre-Concert TalkNew York Philharmonic Principal Librarian Lawrence Tarlow will introduce the program one hour before each performance in the Helen Hull Room, unless otherwise noted. Single tickets for these performances start at $40. Tickets for Open Rehearsals are $18. The Box Office opens at 10:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and at noon on Sunday. On performance evenings, the Box Office closes one-half hour after performance time; other evenings it closes at 6:00 p.m. A
