Donmar Adds SPELLING BEE, MOONLIGHT & 'MILLER' to 2011 Programming

The U.K.'s Donmar Warehouse has announced that Spelling Bee, Harold Pinter's Moonlight, and Luise Miller have been added to the 2011 programming line-up. 

Jamie Lloyd will direct William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which will run at the Donmar Covent Garden from February 11-April 2, 2011. Christopher Oram wil design the set, which will feature lighting design by Neil Austin.

Bijan Sheibani will direct the revival of Pinter's Moonilight, which will also play the Donmar Covent Garden from April 7 - May 28, 2011. The production will feature set design by Bunny Christie and lighting design by Jon Clark.

Tony winner Michael Grandage will head up Mike Poulton's adaptation of Schiller's Luise Miller, which star FeliciTy Jones and play the Donmar Covent Garden from June 8 -July 30, 2011. 

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, programming for the remainder of 2010 includes a special tribute to Stephen Sondheim in honor of his 80th birthday this year with a host of special events, including a production of Passion starring Elena Roger and directed by Jamie Lloyd opening September 10; Michael Grandage and Sam Mendes in conversation about staging Sondheim at the Donmar on September 16; and Stephen Sondheim in conversation about his life and career on October 11. Concert versions of Company directed by Jamie Lloyd and Merrily We Roll Along directed by Rob Ashford will also play the West End at the Queen's Theatre. Merrily will play two performances on October 31, with evening and matiness shows. Company will play the same schedule on November 7. The concerts were initially scheduled to be performed at the Donmar's own space, but have been moved to accommodate more patrons.

Previous work for the Donmar includes Red (also Broadway - Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Director of a Play), The Chalk Garden (Evening Standard and Critics' Circle Awards for Best Director), Othello (Evening Standard Award for Best Director), John Gabriel Borkman, Don Juan in Soho, Frost/Nixon (also West End and Broadway), The Cut, The Wild Duck (Critics' Circle Award for Best Director), Guys and Dolls (Donmar in the West End - Olivier Award for Outstanding Musical Production), Grand Hotel (Evening Standard Award for Best Director, Olivier Award for Outstanding Musical Production), Henry IV, After Miss Julie, Caligula (Olivier Award for Best Director) and The Vortex. As part of the Donmar in the West End season Grandage directed Ivanov - Evening Standard and Critics' Circle Awards for Best Director, Twelfth Night, Madame de Sade and Hamlet (also Kronborg Castle and Broadway). Other West End work includes Evita. He was the Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres 1999 - 2005, where his many productions included Don Carlos (Evening Standard Award for Best Director).
