The Jewish Festival of Sukkot begins on the fifth day after Yom Kippur and is a transition, from one of the most solemn Jewish holidays in the year to one of the most joyous. The holiday commemorates the forty-year period during which the children of Israel were wandering in the desert while living in temporary shelters after fleeing the Egyptians.

Traditionally, on Sukkot, it is accustomed to build a tent and shake what is called an etrog and lulav together; which are traditional symbols for the holiday. Being two saucy and inventive Jew-Yorkers, Sivan Hadari of Isramerica and Michelle Slonim of "Date My Jewish Friend Party", have joined forces to create an alternative and innovative way to celebrate the holiday: THE SUKKOT SIZZLE, an exciting night of music, fun and dancing; Jew Style.

Guests will be invited to come up to the main floor of The legendary Delancey and dance the night away in a blowout party hosted by DJ MAX who is known for exhilarating crowds all over New York City with his powerful fusions of eclectic tracks. Highlights of the evening will include appearances by the 'Yoga Yenata'; an 85 year old contortionist that bends herself into a human pretzel while exclaiming: "Givalt" and "Mazal Tov", Sizzling Sukkot dancers imported directly from previous 'Kinky Jews' events, jugglers, belly dancers and other festive performers yet to be announced.

Between 8:30pm-9:30pm while enjoying festive Sukkot treats, singles will have the opportunity to play Date My Jewish Friend activities such as 'spin the etrog' and Sukkah speed-dating. Slonim and Hadari's creative partnership began while they both starred in the 2009 Fringe Festival hit Sex and the Holy Land written by Melanie Weinstein and continued when Hadari appointed Slonim as director for the first ever Isramerica production at The Sage theatre. Hadari is the Artistic Director of Isramerica, a company of established and emerging Israeli and Jewish American artists living in New York while; as reported in the Wall Street Journal Slonim and writer Sam Forman, are presently developing a play called Michelle's Date Party, an interactive comedy set at a Jewish singles party that will debut in NYC early next year.

THE SUKKOT SIZZLE will take place at 7pm on Tuesday, September 28th at The Delancey, located at 168 Delancey Street, New York, N.Y. Tickets are $25 online and can be purchased at http://sukkotsizzle.eventbrite.com/
