DANCING THROUGH COLLEGE AND BEYOND Free Event Held At Juilliard 10/3

"Dancing Through College and Beyond" will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2010. Registration begins at 9am and the sessions begin at 10am; the conference ends at 5pm. To be held at The Juilliard School, Lincoln Center Plaza, 155 West 65th Street, New York, NY 10023, this day is for students, parents and teachers to explore dance opportunities beyond high school. It is presented by Career Transition For Dancers, Dancewave, Dance/NYC and Pentacle with space generously provided by the Juilliard School. This is event is a part of Dance/NYC's College 4 Dancers and Dancewave's Kids Cafe Festival Goes to College. This special event is FREE but it does require pre-registration at http://dancingthroughcollege.eventbrite.com/.

This is a full day of networking, information and panels to help high school students, teachers, and parents of students navigate dancing in college from applications through graduation. Free for all participants, the panels will bring together over 20 college admissions representatives, college professors, career counselors, alumni and even parents of dance program alums to give you their expert advice on how to get into the program that's right for you; make the most of all that the school has to offer and prepare for a successful career post-graduation.

Some of the confirmed participating schools include: The Ailey School / Fordham University; American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA); The Boston Conservatory; California Institute of the Arts; Eugene Lang College, The New School for Liberal Arts; Hofstra University; Hollins University; The Juilliard School; Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus; Marymount Manhattan College; Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University; Montclair State University; Princeton University; Sarah Lawrence College; University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA); The University of Massachusetts, Amherst and additional schools will be added upon registration.
The first of its kind in New York City, this symposium is not-to-be-missed for all serious dance students and their teachers and parents. This is one-stop shopping to meet many representatives from top dance programs in and around New York City and the country. There will be a FREE lunch as well as door prizes, including tickets to the Broadway show FELA!; CTFD's 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee November 8th at New York City Center hosted by Angela Lansbury and other prizes TBA.
