Cutting Loose: A Cabaret Comes to The Butterfly Club Lucy has always been that agreeable, tidy, cupcake-baking girl who never makes others uncomfortable. Now in her 30s, Lucy can no longer avoid the downsides of being nice. Nor can she put off any longer that whole teenage rebellion thing she skipped (much to her parents' delight) back in 1990s Geelong. It's finally time to cut loose, choose her own destiny, and call her mum a little less. All whilst staying true to herself - whoever that is.

Cutting Loose examines the drive to define oneself and the challenge this presents for the 'good girls' - women who get by through likability and extrinsic praise. While the advantages of always being nice are many, Cutting Loose politely ponders whether they ultimately hold us back from achieving our own awesomeness.

Lucy Horan is a Melbourne-based improviser and comedian who performs with The Big Hoo-Haa! and The Improv Conspiracy. She has performed in sell-out shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Perth's Fringe World, and the Melbourne Fringe Festival. After a lifetime of making up funny songs on stage and off, she is bringing her song-writing skills to the stage accompanied by Rainer Pollard and directed by Fiona Scott-Norman.

Lucy is a natural storyteller with excellent comedic delivery and an audience-friendly approach. Lucy plays off her persona as a guileless ingénue, making idiosyncratic yet relatable observations about relationships, feminism and identity. Cutting Loose features original songs, with a wide range of music styles ranging from ballads and pop to musical theatre and maybe even a bit of beat poetry.

Bookings recommended.
