The Cornelia Street Cafe has announced its weekly line-up. The Cafe is located at 29 Cornelia Street, NYC, New York (between West 4th and Bleecker Sts, Greenwich Village). Tonight's line-up includes Bodies Electric, Electric Guitar Quartet, Giancarlo Vulcano's Monologues for Minerals, a collaborative work with artist Julien Bismuth, second installment (music, theater). Admission at the door is $15 plus one drink minimum. Jed Distler will host.

Tue Jun 15 8:30PM Ricardo Gallo's Tauom
(Satoshi Takeishi, percussion; Dan Blake, soprano and tenor saxophones; Ricardo Gallo, piano)
Tauom, a trio featuring Satoshi Takeishi on percussion, Dan Blake on soprano and tenor saxophones, and Ricardo Gallo on piano, performs original music and improvisations developing areas in between rhythmic complexes and sonic explorations. Cover is $10.

Wed Jun 16 8:30PM The Songwriter's Beat

Now in its 10th year, The Songwriter's Beat is New York's premiere performing songwriter series. Hosted and founded by singer-songwriter Valerie Ghent, four up-and-coming songwriters perform new material in a supportive and intimate atmosphere. This month's Songwriter's Beat features Rebecca Hart, Valerie Ghent, Danny Ross and Randi Driscoll. Every third Wednesday of the month, four songwriters of varying musical styles perform original songs and are encouraged to try out their newest material and arrangements. The series culminates in a week-long festival each July, featuring performers from throughout the years. Cover is $10.

Ben Monder and Bill McHenry starts the night exploring ideas as they did on their beautiful 2009 album 'Bloom.' Young composer-performers Joseph Branciforte (drums) and Chris Botta (guitar) have assembled an unlikely cross-section of NYC talent to perform their "garage-chamber" compositions. Joining forces with iconoclastic improvisers Matt Moran of the Claudia Quintet (vibraphone) and James Ilgenfritz (bass) and powerhouse modern classical performers Chris Otto, and Kevin McFarland of the JACK quartet (violin and cello), their musical universe comprises the detail of modern classical music, the energy of alt-rock, and the improvisational sensibilities of downtown jazz. Cover is $10.

Exploring the archetypal piano trio form, bassist/composer Mark Helias has assembled a special series of his compositions to be realized by the brilliant musicians Orrin Evans and Nasheet Waits. Cover is $10.

Sat Jun 19 9:00PM Little Red Suitcase
(Johanna Borchert, piano, prepared piano and more; Elena Setién, voice, violin)
Coming directly from the flourishing Copenhagen jazz scene is Little Red Suitcase, a girl duo that delicately mixes improvised music, cabaret and theatre live on stage. With simple stage effects, a lot of instruments and crazy mic´ing, they are a live performance full of surprises, quirky stories, expanding into many musical styles and genres. Spiced improv, cabaret and theatrical elements are part of their stage performance. Their attitude communicates directly to the audience, with Spanish, German, French, Danish and English lyrics shaping their multi-lingual universe. Cover is $10.

Sat. 10:30PM Ryan Blotnick Quartet
(Ryan Blotnick, guitar; Bill McHenry, tenor saxophone; Thomas Morgan, bass; Chad Taylor, drums)
Deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, but always listening for new sounds and trends in improvised music, Blotnick has drawn equally from the American and European jazz scenes, playing regularly with musicians from Denmark, Spain, Ireland, Belgium, Canada and England. His latest release 'Everything Forgets' for Songlines features drum master Jeff Williams (of Stan Getz, Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, etc.) and Joachim Badenhorst (of the Han Bennink Trio). Cover is $10.

Sun Jun 20 8:30PM The October Trio and Ingrid Jensen/Abbasi-Tarry Trio
(Evan Arntzen, tenor saxophone; Josh Cole, bass; Dan Gaucher, drums; Ingrid Jensen, trumpet; Rez Abbasi, guitar; Chris Tarry, electric bass; jordan Perlson, drums)
A double bill featuring the critically acclaimed October Trio (Vancouver, BC) making their New York debut with former west coaster Ingrid Jensen in the trumpet chair playing music from their last album 'Looks Like Its Going To Snow' (Songlines). The Abbasi/Tarry Trio features one of modern jazz's greatest guitarist Rez Abbasi, internationally celebrated electric bassist Chris Tarry, and the highly in demand Jordan Perlson on drums. Cover is $10.
