Comedian Meka Mo Will Make Solo Edinburgh Fringe Debut With NEW YORK CITY DREAMS

Comedian and podcaster Meka Mo (HBO's Game Theory with Bomani Jones, Don't Tell Comedy, New York Comedy Festival Comic to Watch) brings her new hour, New York City Dreams, to Just the Tonic at The Caves from 20th - 30th August. Following an award-nominated 2024 Fringe three-hander run, this evolved solo show sharpens her voice, raises the stakes and amplifies the laughs.

In a moment defined by political chaos and identity, New York City Dreams uses the world's loudest city as a lens on everything from ambition and hustle culture to race, belonging and the absurd contradictions of modern life. What does it mean to be a New Yorker when headlines move faster than common sense? Through punchline-heavy storytelling and razor-sharp observations, Meka unpacks dating across cultures, navigating global expectations, and surviving a 24-hour news cycle with your sanity intact.

New York doesn't teach you to fall apart - it teaches you to keep moving. As the hour builds, one thing becomes clear: no matter how loud the politics, how messy the culture, or how chaotic the headlines, this NYC girl isn't folding. She's laughing her way through it - and daring the world to keep up.

Meka Mo is a stand-up and podcast host who has a burgeoning presence on the international comedy scene. Named a Comic to Watch by the New York Comedy Festival, she has earned acclaim for her fearless Stage Presence, sharp storytelling and culturally attuned perspective. She won Best of Fest at the Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest and the Sandy Gunar Award at the Jersey City Comedy Festival and has opened for Michael Che while appearing on HBO's Game Theory with Bomani Jones. A regular on the New York comedy circuit, Meka has performed at top clubs including Gotham Comedy Club and The Stand, and internationally at venues such as Top Secret Comedy Club (London), Tokyo Comedy Bar and the Barcelona Fringe Festival.

In 2024, Meka brought 3 Queens of New York to the Edinburgh Fringe, where the show received strong critical response and an award nomination. FringeReview praised the hour as "a hugely entertaining hour of stand-up and stories," while BroadwayWorld called it 'Priceless... very New York!'

In 2025, Meka recorded her debut stand-up special with Don't Tell Comedy in 2025, generating over 4.1 million views on a single clip and reaching 8+ million views across platforms. Her follow-up release with Cracked Comedy has continued to build her digital audience.

Meka also hosts We're Done Here, an emotional-wellness comedy podcast spotlighted by the BBC and named a finalist for both Yass! and NBC's Laughter Lab. In 2024, the podcast earned recognition at the Neurodiverse Review Awards during the Edinburgh Fringe.

Known for her quick wit, strong crowdwork and ability to blend sharp observational material with personal insight, Meka Mo's comedy navigates multicultural identity, political nuance, and modern absurdity with fearless humour. Meka will be opening for Ilana Glazer on the UK and EU tour dates.
