Cohen, Culkin Set For Naked Angels' Annual Tuesdays@9 Summer Benefit Party 6/23

Naked Angels (Geoffrey Nauffts, Artistic Director; Brittany O'Neill, Managing Director) will hold their annual Tuesdays@9 Summer Benefit Party on June 23rd, 2009 at the American Thread Building (260 West Broadway). Performers will include Scott Cohen, Kieran Culkin, Noah Emmerich, and Amy Ryan among others!

The 2009 Summer Party will benefit the Naked Angels development program Tuesdays@9. This cold reading series was originated in 1991, and continues to run every Tuesday, from September through June. Tuesdays@9 invites writers to share a ten-page sample of their current project. The piece is cast on the spot and given a cold read in front of a live audience, allowing the playwright to hear the work in its rawest form. This resource serves over 200 writers each year and draws approximately 120 audience members and volunteer artists every week. In past years, such plays as Pulitzer finalist Thom Paine (Based On Nothing) by Will Eno, and Omnium Gatherum by Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros and Theresa Rebeck, novels Time On Fire and It's Only Temporary by Evan Handler all began their life at Tuesdays@9.

Naked Angels' current production, Next Fall by Geoffrey Nauffts, was also developed through the Tuesdays@9 series. The play, which features (in alphabetical order) Patrick Breen, Maddie Corman, Sean Dugan, Patrick Heusinger, Connie Ray, and Cotter Smith, is winner of the Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation's 2008 Theatre Visions Fund award. Next Fall is produced by Barbara Manocherian with Jeff Davis and Anthony Barrile, and is playing at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street) through July 5, 2009.
