Madison Square Garden Entertainment announced today that the legendary Chicago Theatre will celebrate its 90th anniversary this year. Constructed in October of 1921 as the flagship in a series of opulent movie houses, the famed venue's six-story high marquee remains one of Chicago's most recognizable landmarks today. The Chicago Theatre is the fifth venue in MSGE's famed portfolio, which includes "The World's Most Famous Arena," Madison Square Garden; the art deco masterpiece, Radio City Music Hall; the renowned Beacon Theatre; as well as The Theater at Madison Square Garden, all located in New York City.

"We are thrilled to celebrate The Chicago Theatre's 90th anniversary this year," said Melissa Ormond, chief operating officer, Madison Square Garden Entertainment. "This iconic, first-class theatre combines an unparalleled history with a spectacular setting that makes it a must-play venue for artists and entertainers. We look forward to commemorating the 90th anniversary of this legendary venue with memorable special events and tribute shows."

"Throughout its 90-year history, The Chicago Theatre has served as an enduring landmark and a flagship venue for presenting unforgettable live entertainment concerts and events in our community," said Ty Tabing, executive director, Chicago Loop Alliance. "Having presented some of the most important and culturally relevant performances, the Chicago Theatre has been a true destination within the historic downtown theatre district. We are proud to help celebrate the anniversary of one of America's most cherished and iconic venues."

Chase and J.P. Morgan, Marquee Partners for Madison Square Garden, will support all 90th anniversary-related events and promotions to commemorate the historic celebration. Under this new partnership, Chase and J.P. Morgan customers receive an unparalleled level of access across all MSG properties and brands - from sold-out concerts and events to behind-the-scenes experiences with artists and performers.

"In addition to being a beautiful venue, the Chicago Theatre is a significant and historic part of Chicago's downtown entertainment scene," said Jeff Pilarcik, senior vice president, Brand/Retail Advertising at Chase. "We're honored to partner with such an acclaimed entity to be able to bring such first rate entertainment to our Chase and JPMorgan customers."

A three-prong radio, online and in-branch program will promote The Chicago Theatre's concert calendar of events from March through September, post an online sweepstakes giveaway on The Chicago Theatre's website; and host an in-market program to run 'Special Offers' for Chase customers with concert tickets.

The Chicago Theatre, also known as 'The Wonder Theatre of the World', first opened its doors on October 26, 1921 on State Street in the North Loop Theatre District of Chicago. The 3,600-seat venue was designed in the French Baroque style by architects Cornelius W. Rapp and George L. Rapp and is the oldest surviving example of this architectural style in Chicago today. The illustrious "C-H-I-C-A-G-O" marquee is one of the few such signs in existence today.

The Chicago Theatre is not only a national landmark, but also a beloved institution for the people and city of Chicago. This historical theatre has served host to a wide variety of celebrated silent films and movies, world-class theatre productions, sold-out concerts, side-splitting comedy shows and special events. Today, an array of the entertainment world's brightest stars and greatest productions grace the stage, including Arcade Fire, Kanye West, Van Morrison, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Harry Connick Jr, Ellen Degeneres, Kathy Griffin, Alicia Keys, David Letterman, Lyle Lovett, Dolly Parton, Prince, Diana Ross, Widespread Panic, Robin Williams, Mariah Carey, Conan O'Brien, Chelsea Handler, Ricky Gervais and Aretha Franklin.

Today, The Chicago Theatre offers a backstage, one-hour walking tour that highlights the beautiful historical and architectural detailing of the legendary venue, including the grand lobby and majestic auditorium. Visitors are invited backstage where some of the world's brightest stars have graced the stage and autographed the dressing room walls and corridors, including Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, and Dean Martin. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to view the large-scale historic theatre photo exhibit in The Chicago Theatre's lower lobby.
