Cheyenne Jackson will be stepping into the roles of "The Wolf" and "Cinderella's Prince" from July 24 through August 2 in the New York City Center Encores! production of James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's beloved musical, Into the Woods at the St. James Theatre, as Tony Award winner Gavin Creel fulfills a prior commitment. Creel will return to his roles on August 6.

Into the Woods, the first Broadway show of the 2022/2023 season, is directed by Lear deBessonet, music direction by Rob Berman with The Encores! Orchestra, and choreographed by Lorin Latarro. This production is dedicated to the memory of Stephen Sondheim.

During this time, Creel will be in residence at The O'Neill National Musical Theatre Conference performing the project he penned, Walk on Through: Confessions of a Museum Novice.

With Delphi Borich, Felicia Curry, Jason Forbach, Alex Joseph Grayson, Cameron Johnson, Paul Kreppel, Mary Kate Moore, Diane Phelan, and Lucia Spina as understudies.

The Into the Woods creative team includes Tony Award winner David Rockwell (Scenic Design), Andrea Hood (Costume Design), Tyler Micoleau (Lighting Design), Tony Award winner Scott Lehrer & Alex Neumann (Co-Sound Designers), James Ortiz (Puppet Design), and Cookie Jordan (Hair, Wigs & Makeup Design). Casting is by Telsey & Co. with Production Supervision by Cody Renard Richard. Justin Scribner will serve as the Production Stage Manager.

Into the Woods first premiered on Broadway in 1987, winning three Tony Awards including Best Score and Best Book. It has since been produced throughout the world and was adapted into a major motion picture in 2014. This production will mark its first time on Broadway in 20 years.

Emmy and Grammy nominated Cheyenne Jackson is currently starring on "Call Me Kat" opposite Mayim Bialik and Leslie Jordan currently in its third hit season. Recent credits include HBO's "The Watchmen," Apple TV's "The Morning Show" and he will next be seen opposite Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black & Kevin Hart in the film Borderlands from Lionsgate based on the video game. Other recent credits include HBO MAX's "Equal," PEACOCK's "Saved by the Bell" reboot, and Kenny Ortega's hit series, NETFLIX's "Julie and the Phantoms." Films: Descendants 3, Academy Award-nominated United 93, Behind the Candelabra, The Green, Price Check, Lola Versus, Love is Strange, Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, Mutual Friends, Opening Night, Beautiful Now, Day Out of Days and Hello Again, as well as 2021's hit Werewolves Within. On television, Jackson appeared in four seasons of Ryan Murphy's award-winning horror anthology, "American Horror Story," "American Woman," "30 Rock" and "Glee." Additional television credits include "The Family Practice," "Life on Mars," "Ugly Betty," "It Takes a Village," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Local Talent," "HR" and "Law & Order." On and Off-Broadway, Jackson has starred in The Performers, The Most Happy Fella, 8, Finian's Rainbow, Damn Yankees, Xanadu, AIDA, The Agony and the Agony, and All Shook Up. Additionally, he was part of the premiere cast of Altar Boyz, and made his Broadway debut in Thoroughly Modern Millie.
