CTG Auctions Bening's Dress, Curtains Tickets, Etc.

By: Aug. 11, 2006

eBay is currently offering six items from the Center Theater Group. To raise funds, the acclaimed Los Angeles theatre group is selling original costume sketches and other memorabilia, according to the Los Angeles Times.

"The move, announced through e-mail to donors and ticket buyers, is unlikely to make a big difference in the finances of the organization — taken together, minimum bids add up to $5,300 — but the sale is a first for the company. Until now, said director of donor communications Elizabeth Lin, the organization's auction experience has been limited to silent and live sales every other year at Angels Night events to raise money for education and outreach efforts," states the article. The auctions can be found under the seller name "centertheatregroup."

The items being auctioned include: Annette Bening's dress from The Cherry Orchard (minimum bid $500); a 1951 BMW motorcycle from iWitness (minimum bid $4,000); an original costume sketch by Gregg Barnes from The Drowsy Chaperone; a limited-edition lithograph of CTG founder Gordon Davidson by the legendary Al Hirschfeld; tickets to Curtains on August 22nd, as well as to a Dialouge with David Hyde Pierce; and An four tickets to Water & Power, a backstage tour after the performance, an evening with Culture Clash and dinner.

The Center Theatre Group presents shows at the Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum and the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Current productions include Kander and Ebb's Curtains at the Ahmanson and Water & Power at the Mark Taper Forum.

Bidding on most items closes between 7 and 8 PM tonight.

Visit www.taperahmanson.org or www.ebay.com for more information and to bid on items.
