Broadway's landmark musical event The Lion King, the fifth longest-running show in Broadway history, is pleased to welcome Buyi Zama as Rafiki, beginning performances with tomorrow's matinee, Saturday, May 18.

Zama joins the New York company of The Lion King directly from the North American Tour, having previously performed the role in London, South Africa, Australia, and China.

Buyi Zama Theatre credits: for her performance in The Lion King she was awarded the 2004 Australian MO Award for Female Musical Performer of the Year and nominated for the 2004 Australian Helpmann Award for Best Female in a Musical. Finalist in the Shell Road to Fame, Concert for Two Nations; Thabo Mbeki Inauguration; Kirk Franklin (Supporting Act); Music Video with Rebecca Malope; Haze; PureMagic; work session with Ringo Madlingozi and featured vocalist with DJ Fistaz and the Admiral.
