Broadway Revival of SPRING AWAKENING to Sets ASL Lottery Policy

Deaf West Theatre's acclaimed production of Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik's Spring Awakening, directed by Michael Arden and choreographed by Spencer Liff, begins performances this coming Tuesday, September 8 at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street).

Beginning two hours before every performance, a limited number of $35 tickets, some in the front row of the orchestra, will be sold via Broadway's first-ever American Sign Language (ASL) lottery at the theater. In the production's spirit of accessibility, every lottery drawing will be held in both spoken English and ASL thanks to support from the Sign Language Center.

Winners will be drawn in person 90 minutes before show time; there is a limit of two per person and tickets can be purchased with either cash or credit.

Spring Awakening's strictly limited 18-week-only engagement will open on Sunday, September 27.

Spring Awakening, the Tony Award-winning Best Musical of 2007, will run 18 weeks only, through Saturday, January 9. It will be performed simultaneously in American Sign Language and spoken and sung in English by a cast of 28. Deaf West Theatre was last represented on Broadway with the triumphant production of Big River in 2003.
