Broadway Producer Ashton Springer Passes Away at 82

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Broadway producer Ashton Springer passed away today, July 15, at the Sarah Neuman Center in Mamaroneck, New York from pneumonia. He was 82 years old.

Springer's productions spanned from the '60s with the Pulitzer Prize play "No Place to Be Somebody' to the Tony-nominated "Bubbling Brown Sugar" and beyond. He attended Ohio State University, and was a graduate of Evander Childs High School in the Bronx.

Survivors include his sister (Claudia Holston), sons (Caz Springer, Mark Springer and wife, Leslie), nieces, nephews and extended family.
