'Broadway Idol' Contest Looks for Next Star, Auditions 9/8
Broadway Idol, The New York Musical Theatre Festival's showtune-flavored answer to "American Idol," returns this September for its second season, looking for the next Broadway star! Performance nights are three consecutive Fridays at Stitch Bar & Lounge (247 West 37th Street) on September 21, September 28 & October 5. Contestants must be available to perform in all three shows.
"If you've got the voice and what it takes to be the next 'Broadway Idol,' you can't miss these auditions. How often do you have the opportunity to appear before Broadway celebrity judges? The winner will receive a concert produced by Ars Nova," state press notes.
Singers must be 21 years-old or older with no Broadway credits
Auditions are held at the HA! Comedy Club (163 West 46th St, between 6th & 7th Aves) on Saturday, September 8 from 10AM-6PM (please arrive 10-10:15AM to be assigned an audition times). Call-backs will be held Sunday, September 6 from 12noon-3PM.
Please prepare 16 bars of a Broadway song of your choice that demonstrates your style and vocal abilities, and which reflects the type of song you would choose if given the opportunity to perform in the competition. Please bring sheet music.
