BroadwayWorld has just learned that a private reading was just held for a musical adaptation of DAVE, starring Brian d'Arcy James, Carmen Cusack, Michael Rupert, Ann Sanders, Colby Lewis, Jonathan Rayson, and Rachel Flynn.

Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures held a private reading of DAVE in Fall 2014, featuring music by NEXT TO NORMAL's Tom Kitt, lyrics by LEGALLY BLONDE's Nell Benjamin and book by ANNIE's Thomas Meehan.

DAVE is based on Ivan Reitman's 1993 comedy, starring Kevin Kline as a man hired to impersonate the president after the real POTUS goes into a coma. Also in the cast were Sigourney Weaver, Frank Langella, Kevin Dunn, Ben Kingsley, Faith Prince, Laura Linney and more.

Dave was met with critical acclaim and has a 94% rating based on 54 reviews collected at Rotten Tomatoes. The consensus on the site states: "Ivan Reitman's refreshingly earnest political comedy benefits from an understated, charming script and a breezy performance by Kevin Kline." Dave debuted No. 2 at the box office, behind Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. It later jumped to No. 1, in its second weekend. In total, Dave made over $63 million in the domestic box office, making it a financial success.
