Heaven Knows, with music, lyrics and book by Charles Bloom, will be one of the musicals featured in Broadway Bound V, which is hosted by Liz Callaway and will be presented at the Merkin Concert Hall on Monday, June 6th at 8 PM.

Bloom's musical Insomnia premiered at the Midtown Theatre Festival last year and played at the Cardiff Musical Theatre Festival in Cardiff, Wales this year. One of its strong reviews cited Bloom's "emotionally rich melodies & funny, well crafted lyrics (and) memorably tuneful, hummable music" (Stan Richardson, NYTheatre.com).

In 2004, Heaven Knows received a semi-staged reading at the York Theatre Company. Directed by Andrew Glant Linden, the musical
told how "a neurotic NY actress, who thinks she knows it all, gets to spend 24 hours with someone who really does: 'all' as in the 'Almighty,' that is. In an assortment of hilarious incarnations, God takes Kate on a 'Holy Roller'-coaster ride through her life, loves & lunacies & helps her to learn, through tears & laughter that, about some things, "Father" really does know best. If there ever was a show with "mass" appeal, this is it!"

In addition to offering sneak peaks at seven new shows in development, Bound for Broadway V will feature interviews with the writing teams, and performances by Broadway stars such as Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Avenue Q), Lisa Howard (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Richard Todd Adams, Donna Lynne Champlin, Perry Ojeda, Julie Rayburn, David Snyder and Melanie Vaughan.

In addition to Heaven Knows, this year's Broadway Bound will offer performances from Marty (score by Charles Strouse and Lee Adams, book by Rupert Holmes), The Frog Prince (book and lyrics by Charles Leipart, music by Eric Schorr), Doctor Sex (book, lyrics and music by Larry Bortniker), The Story of my Life (book by Brian Hill, music and lyrics by Neil Bartram), I Love You Because (words by Ryan Cunningham, music by Josh Salzman) and The Twelve Days of Christmas (a musical revue conceived and directed by Michael Scheman, with songs by many different writers inspired by the carol of the title).

In past years, featured shows have gone on to success on and off-Broadway, among them Robert Lopez' and Jeff Marx's Tony Award-winning Avenue Q, Sean Hartley and Jihwan Kim's Cupid and Psyche, Joanne Bogart and Eric Rockwell's Musical of Musicals, and David Evans and Douglas Cohen's Children's Letters to God.

Single Tickets are $30, and are available by calling the box office at 212-501-3330 or visiting www.kaufman-center.org.

The Merkin Concert Hall is located at 129 W. 67th St. (between Broadway and Amsterdam).
