Blessed Unrest (Jessica Burr, Artistic Director) presents Aleksandr Ostrovsky's The Storm April 13 through May 7, 2012 at the InterArt Theatre (500 West 52nd Street).  Jessica Burr, the 2011 recipient of the League of Professional Theatre Women's Lucille Lortel Award, will direct from a new translation and adaptation by Laura Wickens. 

Time speeds up and thunder rages as Katrina escapes her stifling marriage through forbidden passion. The residents of the small town bracing for the deluge include an oversexed sister-in-law, a prophetess and her musical harem, and the lovelorn inventor of a time machine. 

Called the most poetic of Russian plays, The Storm is a dangerous fusion of true love and immorality unleashed. Blessed Unrest's physically dynamic world-premiere mines the romance and humor. 

The cast includes Sora Baek (Kuligin), Zenzelé Cooper (Katrina), Andrew Dahl (Dikoy), Marco De Ornella (Vanya),Dave Edson (Galoshes), Tim Eliot (Boris), Jason Griffin (Feklusha), Terria Joseph (Marfa), Darrell Stokes (Tikhon), and Laura Wickens (Varvara). The production team includes Jaimie Van Dyke (Production Stage Manager), Lance Harkins(Technical Director), Benjamin C Gevelow (Scenic and Lighting Design), Summer Lee Jack (Costume Design), Damen Scranton (Sound Design), Dave Edson (Composer and Arranger), Matt Opatrny (Producer), Rachel Gevelow (Associate Scenic and Costume Design), and Maria Marrero (Production Assistant).

Performances of The Storm are April 13 through May 7, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday and Monday at 7:00 pm with one exception, Monday April 16 which is at 8:00 pm, at the InterArt Theatre (500 West 52nd Street at 10th Avenue; Subway: 1 or C/E to 50th Street).  Tickets are $18 at www.blessedunrest.org or by calling (646) 238-0829Press dates are Saturday, April 14 at 8:00 pm; Sunday, April 15 at 7:00 pm; Monday, April 16 at 8:00 pm; and Friday, April 20 at 8:00 pm.
