With a nod to the economic woes of families, Bay Street Theatre is offering up new Family Friendly Fares for their latest hit, Dames At Sea. Bay Street's production, which the NY TIMES calls, "A joyous sendup bursting with can-do spirit", is a rollicking musical filled with song and dance that could melt the hardest of hearts. With book and lyrics by George Haimsohn and Robin Miller and music by Jim Wise, Dames At Sea is not only perfect family fare, but it has now been made more affordable as well. For each of the remaining Saturday matinee performances, Bay Street will offer up one free ticket to any child under the age of 12 when accompanied by a paying adult. Additional children or those over age 12 can join in the fun for just half price.

Directed by Ray Roderick, this light-hearted musical is filled with exuberant tap-dancing, vocal delights, and plenty of great laughs. The talented team of actors includes Xavier Cano as Dick (Grease, West Side Story, Altar Boyz), Joyce Chittick as Joan (Pajama Game, Sweet Charity, Wonderful Town), Stuart Marland as Hennesey and The Captain (Xanadu, Beauty and the Beast, Jekyll & Hyde), Kristen Martin as Ruby (42nd Street, CATS, Beauty and the Beast), Laurie Wells as Mona Kent (42nd Street, Mamma Mia!, Swing!), and Patrick Wetzel as Lucky (The Drowsy Chaperone, Thou Shalt Not, Annie Get Your Gun). And this plucky group of six provides "enough energy on stage ..to light a big city or a small country," according to the Southampton Press. As the ingenue playing the role that launched an unknown Bernadette Peters into stardom, Kristen Martin too is destined for great things. Bloomberg.com gives it 4 stars and Newsday says "Dames is a laughably adorable victory at sea." This is one boat you won't want to miss.

Dames at Sea continues through Sunday, August 6, with shows Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm, with matinees Wednesdays at 2pm and Saturdays at 4pm.

Tickets are $65 and $75, and can be purchased online at www.baystreet.org or by calling the Box Office at 631-725-9500, or in person at the Box Office, on the Long Wharf, Sag Harbor open 11am daily.
