Today we are in the studio with Alexander Sage Oyen and special guest Caissie Levy from Broadway's LES MISERABLES! You can see Alex perform live at 54 Below on November 15th!

"I began writing A Night Like This when I was 19. So many things have changed about the show, especially my perception of it. I'm so excited to share it with an audience finally (after workshops at FSU and Princeton University). I've been very lucky to call 54 Below an artistic home for the last two years. This'll be my third concert and my second time doing a piece of theatre in concert there. It all feels very right- that stage is my home in many ways. Also very excited to be working with Director Blayze Teicher in bringing this show to the concert stage!"
Alexander Sage Oyen is the recipient of the 2014 ASCAP Foundation's Lucille and Jack Yellen award for promising lyricists. His musicals include OUTLAWS (book by James Presson, dir. Noah Himmelstein), DIVA (book by Sean Patrick Monahan), A NIGHT LIKE THIS (book, music, lyrics), MONEY$HOT! (book by James Presson, 2014 Orlando Fringe Festival), and MOMENT BY MOMENT (directed by Brandon Ivie, 54 Below. Production at Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand). He and collaborator James Presson were awarded the 2013-2014 Dramatist Guild Fellowship and their musical, OUTLAWS, was a 2014 NAMT Finalist and was the recipient of the 2014 ASCAP Workshop. Currently, he's working on a new musical based on a movie about a suicidal kid with a camera. He was named one of Playbill's "Contemporary Musical Theatre Writers You Should Know," and he was selected for the 2014 Johnny Mercer Songwriter's Project. His music has been heard at 54 Below, Joe's Pub, The Signature Theatre, New World Stages, The Laurie Beechman Theatre and venues in Thailand, London and The Netherlands. The cast album of his song cycle, MOMENT BY MOMENT, is currently set for a winter 2014 release.
