Review: SPIRIT LEVEL at Wroclawski Teatr Komedia, Timeless Classic Like a Soul Warmer.

This play is like a good apple pie. It's warm, classic, sweet, comforting and perfect for long winter evenings. It's an ideal way to let your hair down. Play had a premiere 11 years ago but it is timeless. Wojciech Dabrowski, who also played one of lead roles, as director made a great, emotional, cordial and rich comedy.

"Spirit Level" by Pam Valentine is a story about Jack and Susie - two ghost hanging around in their old cottage house after drowning in a boating accident. They are refused entry into heaven because Jack is an atheist. Life after life is dull and long - for the time being their only pleasure is to scare estate agent and potential any would-be tenants. One day a young couple appears and will change existence of Jack and Susie. Since that moment everything is a bit topsy curvy in this country side.

There is everything you need for a good night: comedy, ghosts, memories, love, fear, faith. Time spent in the theatre is fulfill with laugh but also with important questions about relations, life, relationships, marriage and death.

This piece is a comedy before everything and it's a good one! Performers are polished to the point they are floating on the stage. Emilia Krakowska - Guardian Angel - is a true cherry on the pie and makes you wish to have a Guardian Angel for yourself. She's funny, hearty and sincere. Her relation with Jack (great Wojciech D?browski) is vibrating and sparkles around faith matter which hit the nail on the head. Couple: Mary (Natalia Jesionowska) and Simon (Rados?aw Kasiukiewicz) is gentle and smooth, Marta (Marzena Oberkorn) - hilarious with her quirks, Mark (Krzysztof Gr?bski) persona comica to the point.

You can see through jokes reality with difficult questions and they provoke reflections. Seeing two ghost desiring so much touch each other, smell each other and feel each other makes you want go and hug person you love. For a moment you realize how happy you are to be alive and surrounded by simple things like family and love and before everything else being alive. It's worth to pull up, be present in a moment and seize the day.
