Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash hit musical School of Rock - The Musical celebrates one year on Broadway, today, Tuesday, December 6, 2016. The musical began preview performances at the Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway) on November 9, 2015 and officially opened, to rave reviews, on December 6, 2015. School of Rock - The Musical marked a triumphant return both to Broadway and to the Jesus Christ Superstar composer's rock roots. As a producer, it is the first of Lloyd Webber's musicals to originate in the U.S. Lloyd Webber, once again, has the rare distinction of having three musicals running simultaneously on Broadway: School of Rock - The Musical, CATS, and The Phantom of the Opera.

Over the past year, School of Rock - The Musical has created many "firsts" for young artists on Broadway both onstage and off. From a tremendous number of Broadway debuts, to the development process at Gramercy, to the 360 video, the new musical has enabled talented young people to stretch their creative abilities. One such artist is Jordan Axelrod, an NYU film student who shot and edited a 25-minute documentary chronicling the new musical's road to Broadway. Axlerod has been embedded with School of Rock from the beginning, shooting and creating digital content al along the way. The mini documentary, which will be released digitally today at 1 pm, features interviews with original cast members and the creative team and takes viewers from rehearsals through the Tony Awards.

School of Rock - The Musical recently welcomed a mostly "New Class" of rock stars. Currently blowing the roof off the Winter Garden Theatre are Eric Petersen as Dewey Finn, Jenn Gambatese as Rosalie Mullins, Steven Booth as Ned, Becky Gulsvig as Patty, Brandon Niederauer as Zack, Rachel Katzke as Katie, Raghav Mehrotra as Freddy, Walden Sullivan as Lawrence, Olivia Chun as Summer, Bobbi MacKenzie as Tomika, and Luca Padovan as Billy. The adult ensemble includes Emily Cramer, Natalie Charle Ellis, John Arthur Greene, Michael Hartney, Merritt David Janes, Nehal Joshi, Lulu Lloyd, Jaygee Macapugay, Cassie Okenka, Patrick O'Neill, Morgan Rose, Jesse Swimm, Josh Tower, and J. Michael Zygo. The kid's ensemble features Paul Luke Bonenfant, Ava Della Pietra, Gabby Gutierrez, Gianna Harris, Jason Kisare, and Jersey Sullivan.

School of Rock - The Musical is based on the smash hit 2003 film of the same, featuring music from the movie, as well as an original score by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Glenn Slater, a book by Julian Fellowes and direction by Laurence Connor. School of Rock - The Musical opened to rave reviews on Sunday, December 6, 2015. This Ben Brantley New York Times 'Critics' Pick' "is an inspiring jolt of energy and mad skillz," raves Jesse Oxfeld of Entertainment Weekly. And in his four-star Critics' Pick review, Time Out's David Cote proclaimed, "School's IN - forever!" School of Rock - The Musical was nominated for four 2016 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score (Lloyd Webber and Slater), Best Book (Fellowes), and Best Leading Actor in a Musical (Alex Brightman).

Based on the hit film, School of Rock - The Musical is a hilarious new musical that follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school's beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within.

School of Rock features choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, scenic and costume design by Anna Louizos, lighting design by Natasha Katz, and sound design by Mick Potter and music supervision by Ethan Popp.

School of Rock - The Musical recently opened, also to rave reviews, on London's West End at the New London Theatre. Performances began on October 24, 2016 with an official opening night on November 14, 2016.

Tickets for School of Rock - The Musical are $59 - $155 and are available by visiting the Winter Garden Theatre box office Monday - Saturdays between 10:00 am - 8:00 pm and Sundays from 12:00 pm - 6:00pm, online at Telecharge.com, or by calling 212-239-6200. Performances of School of Rock - The Musical are Mondays and Tuesdays at 7 pm, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and 1 pm and 6 pm on Sundays.

School of Rock - The Musical is produced on Broadway by Andrew Lloyd Webber for The Really Useful Group, Warner Music Group & Access Industries, The Shubert Organization, and The Nederlander Organization. Nina Lannan and Madeleine Lloyd Webber serve as Executive Producers.
