Barnum Brown: The Man Who Discovered Tyrannosaurus Rex. Considered by many to be the greatest fossil hunter of the 20th century, Barnum Brown traveled across the world collecting dinosaur bones and fossil mammals. Between 1896 and 1942, he collected more than 1200 crates of fossils for the American Museum of Natural History, including 57 of the major specimens on display in the Museum today.
