Ruckus Rockwell and Studio Samuel Foundation are proud to announce an entwinement of film and theater, LOL : / and Other Plays by Terry Fletcher, with proceeds providing an educational opportunity to a girl in Ethiopia through Studio Samuel's Training for Tomorrow life-skills initiative.

"It's troupes like Ruckus Rockwell who are key in helping Studio Samuel raise awareness for the need to educate girls and how much change can come from just one girl lifting herself from poverty. We're honored to have been selected by such a talented group and are thankful on behalf of our girls and women in Ethiopia." -Tamara Horton, founder Studio Samuel Foundation

One-hundred-and-sixty member independent theatre collective, Ruckus Rockwell, is excited to present both a comedic short film and stage production, chronicling our technology-based communication skills. The showcase will be held at This Theatre/That Gallery Thursday, July 17 through Saturday, July 19.

A percentage from ticket sales will be donated to enroll one more girl in Studio Samuel Foundation's two year Training for Tomorrow curriculum. TFT workshops target 9-to-15-year-old girls living at (or below) the poverty line, aiming to keep them off the streets and from entering at-risk job opportunities through proper life-skills training. From counseling and karate to self-esteem building classes to occupational training, girls are exposed to the necessary resources to empower them to break the cycle of poverty they were born into - with dignity.

In addition to the entertainment, Studio Samuel will be on hand Friday, July 18, showcasing select styles, including their melted artillery line of necklaces and bracelets. These locally produced fair trade product lines (samples here) create jobs, and help build further educational platforms for women and girls in Ethiopia.

Tickets are $15, and can be purchased at smarturl.it/LOLThePlay. Make sure to bring your stub to Pioneer Bar next door, as it gets you a free drink (with purchase).
