Queen Rodelinda navigates a dangerous political web to protect her throne and family while her love for her supposedly dead husband reignites in a dramatic clash of passion and ambition. Royal alliances shift and transform in the shadowy “noir melodrama gangster” world of R.B. Schlather’s staging of this revered Handel opera. Music Director Harry Bicket leads this work, where characters spin power, lies and loyalties through exquisite music in a chiaroscuro world where agendas and identities are never entirely clear. The cast features exciting company debuts including Lucy Crowe as Rodelinda, Anthony Gregory as Grimoaldo and Hugh Cutting as Unulfo.
