Mother Road Theatre Company, fresh off the sold-out co-production ALL IS CALM: THE CHRISTMAS TRUCE OF 1914, begins 2016 with a beautiful production of CHAPATTI, starring Joanne Camp and Peter Shea Kierst. Romance is a distant memory for two lonely animal-lovers living in Dublin. When forlorn Dan and his dog Chapatti cross paths with the amiable Betty and her 19 cats, an unexpected spark begins a warm and gentle story about two people rediscovering the importance of human companionship.

The production is directed by Albuquerque favorite, Denise Schulz. Locally, she has directed Chekhov's THREE SISTERS, THE GLASS MENAGERIE, and THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING for the Vortex Theatre; RAG AND BONE for Blackout Company; DRACULA, MERCY SEAT, and LITTLE RED for Tricklock Company; also CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF for Albuquerque Little Theatre. Currently, Denise serves on the following Boards of Directors: Blackout Theatre Company, Tricklock Theatre Company and The Albuquerque Theatre Guild.

Joanne Camp* (*denotes membership in Actors Equity) has appeared locally in WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?, VANYA & SONIA & MASHA & SPIKE, AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, THE MANDRAKE, & FIRST LOVE at the FUSION Theatre. Joanne's 30-year professional acting career in New York City includes: Broadway: DINNER AT EIGHT, THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO, THE SISTERS ROSENSWEIG, THE HEIDI CHRONICLES (Drama Desk & Tony Award nominations), and COSTAL DISTURBANCES. Joanne was a 25-year member of New York City's off-Broadway classical theatre, The Pearl Theatre Company, where she performed in 50 classical productions from Aeschylus to Hellman, garnering her an Obie Award.

Peter Shea Kierst has appeared in THE SEAFARER (2012), THE KILLER ANGELS (2012), and THE ILLUSION (2013) with Mother Road. Other favorite roles include Algernon in THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, Salieri in AMADEUS, Pozzo and (later) Didi in WAITING FOR GODOT, George in WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?, and two one man shows: Oscar Wilde in DIVERSIONS AND DELIGHTS and CLARENCE DARROW in the show of that name. Peter was Artistic Director of The Vortex from 1981-83, and is again a member of its Board of Directors. Peter is a professor of Constitutional Law at UNM's Political Science department, having spent 30 years as a litigator.
