It was announced both on Tim Rice's twitter and on the FHTE page that the show would get a cast recording before it left the Shaftsbury Theatre. I for one know I will be buying it and a lot of people at my drama school will be buying it as well. what are peoples thoughts on this news? I was sceptical about the show, but after seeing it, I think its one of the best new pieces of theatre I have seen in a long time. unlike some new shows i have seen recently, I feel the score is very memorable, unlike others at the moment.

The show isn't perfect, by any stretch of the imagination! However, I loved the score and I'm glad that it is being preserved. I'll be buying it!

I really enjoyed it. It has a few flaws but it engaged me throughout both times I saw it. The performances were great. And I thought there were some really good songs. Will certainly buy the album.

Robert Lonsdale had hinted last week that their may be one, so I'm very pleased Tim Rice has confirmed. There may be problems with some of the show but a 1950's war story which is different to the movie most people remember in a lot of ways was always going to be a hard sell. Feel would be more suited to Broadway than the West End. However Rice & Brayson's music is superb and would of been a great shame if wasn't released.

Cant help but think a cast cd released earlier may have helped the show.

It probably had one of the best "traditional" scores of any show on Broadway or the West End in years.

I loved the show and will be there closing night. I went in unfamiliar with the movie or book and wish my first time was after they removed the spoiler from the start. I'm thrilled it will be getting a cast recording and glad it wasn't released too early as I think the changes to the show have been good.

Excellent!
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

So glad that there is going to be a cast recording so that the performances of this wonderful cast will be preserved. I love Stuart Braysons score and I really hope that this musical comes back in the future.

Excellent score. The music really is the strength of the musical. But the musical as a whole is only a notch above terrible: cliched, clunky, predictable, tedious in places..... But I do love the score.

This is what I just posted on WOS

-------------------------------

I was there last night and it was sad to see what I think is actually a good show leave the West End. There was obviously a loud ovation at the end of each song. This was my second viewing of Eternity (having seen it on the opening week, not one of the preview performances), and there were some noticable changes for me between the two.

Firstly, the overture, when was that added? It worked well, I was just a bit surprised when it kicked in at the start. Was that added for the filming?
The Warden's song 'Sure' had disappeared (unless I zoned out at that point). Was that also done for the recording, or was it removed a while back?
The opening scene between Lorene and Karen omitted the line where Lorene told Karen her fiancee was dead.

There were probably other little changes that I missed.

At the stage door after the show Darius told people that Tim is trying to get the show on Broadway (where I think it would work better as it is an American themed show), and that he had been asked about going over with it if it gets there.

Robert Lonsdale also told us that the cast recording would be released in a couple of months along with the filmed performance they did last week, so they are obviously just ripping the tracks from that, which is fine for me as I feel live recordings give more emotion.

Another Robert note, look out for him in The Interceptor on BBC at some point soon. He said he has no plans at the moment to record an album or anything, but if he does it will be at least 12 months away while he focuses on his acting.

On a small note, Ryan Sampson is probably the nicest person I've ever met. I hope this is not the last we see of him on a West End stage, because his portrayal of Maggio was flawless both times I saw the show.

My company sells tickets for London theatre in the States, and I can tell you we had more than a few people ask since last year about the show coming to Broadway. (A lot of "civilians" tend to think it's just automatic.) I think it does deserve a chance on Broadway.
