Photo Flash: The UK premiere of Tennessee Williams' One Arm, Adapted for the Stage by Moisés Kaufman Opens at Southwark Playhouse

The UK premiere of One Arm, inspired by the blisteringly powerful, unproduced Tennessee Williams screenplay, has opened at Southwark Playhouse. Scroll down to take a look at the production photography by Alex Brenner.

One Arm tells the story of Ollie Olsen - a character as unforgettably moving as the most iconic of Williams' creations. After a devastating accident ends his boxing career, the former champion of the Pacific Fleet believes his once-invincible body to be irreparably broken. When his eyes are opened to the market value of his tragic beauty, Ollie turns to selling his final asset in order to survive. Through his encounters with the lonely souls of 1940s America, Ollie discovers an unexpected chance for redemption.

This UK premiere is directed by Josh Seymour, with set and costume design by Alistair Turner, lighting design by Joshua Pharo, sound design by Helen Atkinson and movement direction by John Ross. Joe Jameson, Georgia Kerr, Peter Hannah and James Tucker play multiple roles around the central character of Ollie Olsen, played by Tom Varey.

In 1942 Tennessee Williams wrote a short story called One Arm, which he adapted into a screenplay 25 years later - a script too provocative for the studios of 60s Hollywood. Moisés Kaufman boldly fuses these texts into a theatrical work inspired by the movie that was never made.

The unmissable production plays at Southwark Playhouse until 4 July.
