Michael Xavier, Jenna Russell et al. to Star in SOHO CINDERS World Premiere at Soho Theatre, Aug 2
Following the sold-out concert performance of Soho Cinders at the Queen's Theatre in October 2011, Stiles & Drewe's new musical will receive its world premiere at Soho Theatre running from 2nd August to 9th September 2012. The full-scale production with a live band will feature an all-star cast including Jenna Russell and Michael Xavier, and featuring the voice of Stephen Fry.
Directed by Jonathan Butterell, Soho Cinders has music by George Stiles, lyrics by Anthony Drewe, book by Anthony Drewe & Elliot Davis, choreography by Drew McOnie, design by Morgan Large and lighting design by Hugh Vanstone.
Edgy, fun and deliciously naughty, Soho Cinders celebrates the capital's most colourful district and is set to get London's temperature soaring this summer.
When impoverished student Robbie becomes romantically involved with engaged Mayoral candidate James Prince, his lap-dancing step-sisters become the least of his problems! James and Robbie's worlds collide forcing them to fight for their own fairy-tale ending in this hilarious, satirical twist on the classic Cinderella story.
The potent mix of politics, sex-scandals and true love come together in this contemporary musical with an infectious score that you'll be humming long past the stroke of midnight.
Soho Theatre: "We are delighted to welcome the Soho Cinders producers to present this rare musical treat within the venue's main house, providing an opportunity for our audience and musical theatre audiences to see this full-scale musical within an intimate space; whilst Soho Theatre takes its regular programme of new writing, comedy and cabaret to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2012."
