BWW speaks to Daniel Nils Roberts about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe comedy show "Honey".

What can you tell us about your show Honey?

It's an explosion of gag-stuffed sketches, brassy characters, PowerPoint-in-meltdown and bears. Lots of bears.

Is this your first year performing solo at the Fringe?

I've actually been coming for several years with improv comedy shows. I'm a founder of Racing Minds, whose audacious madcap improvised adventure Aaaand Now For Something Completely Improvised has a become a Fringe favourite, and I am also a member of improv titans Austentatious, who will be returning to the big purple Udderbelly tent this year, so I have had plenty of time to fall head-over-heels in love with Edinburgh and the crazy beast that is the Fringe. This is my debut solo hour, though, so 2016 holds lots of new exciting challenges for me. Scary times.

What are the positives and negatives of solo vs. a group performance?

The positives are that you can keep all the money. The negatives are that there is less of it.

How would you describe your style of comedy?

It's a series of oxymorons: highbrow idiocy; daft cleverness; joke-packed absurdity. I want to pummel the audience into laughter with carefully crafted madness. I guess I've been on a bit of a journey of discovery trying to find how best to transfer the energy and confidence I feel doing improv into a scripted show. It turns out the answer was performing glib characters with a wild-eyed intensity and flinging yoghurt around.

Who would you recommend your show to?

Anyone who's after curveball punchlines, some extreme silliness, and jokes about everything from Only Fools and Horses to the last British governor of Hong Kong.

Timings and ticket information for Daniel Nils Robert: Honey is available on the edfringe website.
