Harvey Fierstein and the company of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF raised over $6,000 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS at their benefit cabaret, RAISING THE ROOF, in Washington, DC this past Monday.

The rain did not stop ticket buyers who were lined up around the corner to get into this much-anticipated event. Producer and cast member, Deborah Grausman, was thrilled with the packed house, and is happy to report that the FIDDLER company has now raised $100,000 for BC/EFA.

Some of the songs that were performed were: A New World, Super Boy and the Invisible Girl, Casting Call for a Best Friend, At My Age, Suddenly Seymour, An Explanation to Mom, Shiksa Goddess, Last Name, Yiddish Cowboy, Lost and Found, Be My Friend, At the Fountain, The Boy Next Door, and Seasons of Love.

The wonderful cast for the evening included: Jessica Scholl, Katie Babb, Joel Bernstein, Emily Shoolin, Leslie Alexander, Matthew Rossoff, Kerry Alexander, Matthew Marks, Colby Foytik, Kaitlin Stilwell, Gary Brintz, Zal Owen, Juliana Stefanov, Scott Leiendecker, Deborah Grausman, David W. Gilleo, Hannah DelMonte, and Mary Stout. Instrumentalists, Tom Goslin, Matt Mead, and Mike Epperhart added flare to the evening, and music directors David Andrews Rogers and Nathan Thomas put together a fantastic program that left the audience (literally) begging for more!

Town Danceboutique was the perfect venue and Joquin "Jocko" Fajardo's food received rave reviews. The raffle was a huge success, and the impromptu live auction of two signed playbills brought in an extra $350, thanks to Harvey, who offered to personalize them.
