Infinite Variety Productions, a NYC based, not-for-profit theatre company, is partnering with the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation this Veteran's Day weekend, Nov. 9-10. IVP will bring their production of "Censored on Final Approach" by Phylis Ravel to Arlington for this special event.

"Censored on Final Approach" is the story of four WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots): women hired by the United States Army Air Forces during WWII to fly military aircrafts and tow targets for live anti-aircraft artillery practice, thereby freeing male pilots for combat missions.

More than one thousand women flew for the WASP program, but their stories are rarely found in the history books.

Infinite Variety Productions & the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation hope to change that.

Performances are: Nov. 9th @ 2pm & November 10th @ 7pm

Women In Military Service For America Memorial @ Gateway, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA

Shows are free, however reservations are required.

To reserve a seat, please RSVP by Nov. 5th to finalapproach@womensmemorial.org or by calling 703-533-1155. Include your name, number in the party, show date, and contact number/e-mail address.

The women in Ms. Ravel's play are willing to accept any mission for their chance to serve their country, gain the respect of their male counterparts, and experience the thrill of flying. As one of the characters in the play puts it, "The difference between the men here and us? The men have to be here, we want to be here." In the face of prejudice from male pilots who respond with constant sabotaging of their planes, these women go to extremes to prove their worth. "Look at us," says one. "We are no longer normal. We take any mission, no matter how dangerous, we are scared to smile, scared to act like ourselves. Scared that we will lose the chance to fly." When a fellow female pilot crashes, however, the surviving WASP begin to question their roles and their readiness to risk everything to prove themselves in the cockpit.

"Censored on Final Approach" is a story of strength, courage, identity, and the close-knit friendships formed during a very important period in American history. These women flew a combined total of some 60 million miles in every type of military aircraft and paved the way for future generations of female pilots, both military and civilian. This play continues IVP's tradition of producing works that underscore the pivotal but often overlooked roles women have played throughout history.

The Women In Military Service For America Memorial, at the Ceremonial Entrance to Arlington National Cemetery, is the only major national memorial honoring all women who have defended America throughout history. Their patriotism and bravery are a part of our nation's heritage and are now recognized. The Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization that depends on the donations of individuals, corporations, organizations, and state and local governments to equip and maintain the Education Center, theater and exhibit areas, expand the permanent artifact collection, and continue to locate and register eligible women.

Infinite Variety Productions is dedicated to shining a light on the lesser known stories from women's history. Our NYC production of "A Piece of My Heart" by Shirley Lauro, which tells the stories of women who served in Vietnam during the war, was presented in Washington, DC for the Vietnam Women's Memorial 20th Anniversary in November 2013, and in Wyoming at the VA center, high schools and colleges. IVP's "Censored on Final Approach" had sold out performances at The Judson Theatre off of Washington Square Park. After Arlington, the run will continue at The American Airpower Museum, the old WWII hangar in Farmingdale. The event will include workshops for the local high school and college history/drama classes.
