Barter Theatre, a non-profit professional, equity theatre organization in Abingdon, Va., will hold local auditions at Barter Stage II from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on December 13 for the 2011 season. Actors over 18 are encouraged to attend.

Those interested should prepare one or two monologues no more than ninety seconds each. For singers, the theatre would like to hear one verse and one chorus or sixteen bars of a song. An accompanist will be provided. Occasionally Barter Theatre asks singers for an additional, contrasting song, therefore singers should come prepared for that possibility.

All auditionees interested in musicals, Barter's Resident Acting Company or The Barter Players should also plan to attend the movement/dance calls.

The 2010 Barter Theatre season includes the big musicals "Xanadu," "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" and "Cabaret." Other shows include "Treasure Island," "Elvis Has Left the Building," "Saving Old Smokey," "A Southern Exposure," "The Road to Appomattox" "Dracula Bites" and much more.
