Following a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival and Gate Theatre, George Brandt's award-winning play Grounded lands at the Studio Theatre from Wednesday 21 to Saturday 24 January as part of an extensive new international tour.

Winner of the Off West End Theatre Awards' Best production and Best Set Design 2014 and a Fringe First Award 2013, Grounded is a gripping, compulsive new play that flies from the heights of lyricism to the shallows of workaday existence. This extraordinary one-woman play, starring Lucy Ellinson (Money: The Game Show and an associate artist with Third Angel) as The Pilot, targets our assumptions about war, family, and what it is to be a woman.

When a hot-rod F16 fighter pilot becomes pregnant, her career in the sky is over. Having been grounded to an air-conditioned trailer in Las Vegas, she is forced to fly remote-controlled battle drones over the Middle East. Struggling through surreal 12-hour shifts far from the war zone, fighting terrorists by day and being a wife and mother by night.

The play is presented by independent creative producer, Beckie Darlington and Gate Theatre and is supported by Arts Council England and Jerwood Charitable Foundation (Jerwood Young Designers Programme).

Grounded is on stage at the Studio Theatre from Wednesday 21 - Saturday 24 January. Tickets are priced £13.00 - £15.00 (concessions available) and can be purchased by calling the Box Office on 0114 249 6000 or by visiting sheffieldtheatres.co.uk (a transaction fee of £1.50 (£1.00 online) applies to all bookings made at the Box Office, excluding cash.)
