Disney's Beauty and the Beast opened on Thursday at the gorgeous Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, becoming the second to last show that Dancap Productions will bring to Toronto before it closes up shop for good later this summer. The beloved Disney show enjoyed a successful run on Broadway as well as a sit-down production in Toronto back in the early 90s, and audiences are thrilled to see it return to our city for three weeks this summer.
This particular production is a scaled down version of the show many Torontonians are used to, but has the same music, story and heart of the production we've all come to know and love. Children especially seem to embrace the show, and the opening night audience was filled with wide-eyed excitement as the characters from the Academy Award Winning cartoon came to life on stage.
The opening night also featured a special and unique treat as the Canadian Opera Company treated everyone in the audience to free ice cream at intermission - definitely a great way to beat the heat! BWW was thrilled to be able to share in the joy and bring our readers these gorgeous photos of the production.
