Tempe Center for the Arts sponsored by Northern Trust brings an all- new modern twist on traditional taiko drumming with BATARÉ, April 7 at 7:30 pm. BATARÉ features eleven musicians including a live band who perform alongside the drummers, creating a modernized world of taiko.

BATARÉ will perform in the Theater at Tempe Center for the Arts, located at 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway. Tickets are $35 and $45 and are available at the Box Office, tca.ticketforce.com or by calling (480)350-2TCA (2822).

BATARÉ is an electrifying live show which harnesses the energy of taiko with rock and roll. The drummers' fresh approach to this art-form demonstrate technical command over drums that tower above the audience. Some of the drums weigh hundreds of pounds.

"Bataré is a must-see show for a new century," says Nick Wylie, Executive Producer of Bataré. "This is a never-before-seen blend of adrenaline, drumming, choreography, and an orchestral approach to rock 'n' roll, live on stage."

BATARÉ includes a diverse mix of taiko drummers and percussion masters; alumni from Berklee College of Music in Boston and Musician's Institute in Los Angeles, and a professional percussionist from Guam.

All come together on stage for a show that goes the extra mile. "Bataré is something that's never been done before on stage, and it's wild!" says Jay Iraheta, Blue Man Group.
