Spanish Lyric Theatre and SLT Productions, the nation's oldest Hispanic theatre company and the longest running theatre in the greater Tampa Bay Area, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Capdevila's at La Teresita Cuban Restaurant to present a professional vintage supper club series during the Spring/Summer 2015 season.

Originally emigrating from Cuba to the United States in 1962 on the Freedom Flights to Miami, the Capdevila family began a small grocery store in 1972 - an endeavor which has grown over the years to also include a fish and meat market, a coffee and sandwich shop, a small restaurant and cafeteria and, in 1993, a 14,000 square foot, two-story restaurant and banquet hall on land the family had previously purchased. La Teresita now serves thousands weekly and has been honored to host and serve Presidents of the United States, governors, senators, mayors, city workers, and peoples and cultures from all walks of life.

The series, entitled the "Copacabana Supper Club Concert Series at La Teresita" will feature three dynamic theatrical concert events to be presented in the main banquet hall which pay tribute to the days of the original Copacabana Supper Club in New York City and the Latin Casinos in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Cherry Hill, New Jersey and feature many of the famed restaurant's authentic signature Cuban cuisine and beverages.

The partnership represents an expansion on an already well-received and rapidly growing collaboration SLT is enjoying with another Tampa Bay Latin American fixture, the historic Centro Asturiano de Tampa. The new association allows SLT to continue to expand its audience by offering high quality meal service to its patrons.

"Spanish Lyric Theatre is excited to move forward on this new association with La Teresita," says SLT Interim Artistic Director, Michael Mathews.

"We are fortunate enough to be enjoying rapidly growing success with our similar venture with the folks at Centro Asturiano and we look forward to expanding SLT's professional theatrical cabaret offerings with a quality dinner theatre experience at La Teresita."

The cabaret series kicks off later this month with THE LEGENDARY BOBBY DARIN, the ultra successful tribute concert event that has toured since 2008 starring Mathews and featuring some of Tampa Bay's finest female dancers as the world famous Copacabana girls. Later this spring comes the smash hit SINCERELY, FRANK (formerly Seriously Sinatra), a multimedia tribute to "Old Blue Eyes" which has also garnered critical acclaim on tour in Florida over the last 5 years. Finally, SLT and the La Teresita will present SONGBOOK: from Etta James and Sammy Davis to Barbra Streisand and Michael Buble and everywhere in between, this brand new cabaret features the greatest hits of the Great American Songbook.

Part of the proceeds from these four shows will also be used to renovate the lighting and sound systems in the Centro's historic theatre.

"La Teresita Restaurant and the Capdevila Family have partnered with the Spanish Lyric Theatre to offer the Tampa Bay area and its visitors great entertainment and shows throughout 2015," says La Teresita Vice President, Louis Capdevila.

"We are excited to work with this awesome team of professional performers and entertainers that have given us so many joyous experiences and memories for years."
