The Rep Presents THE DINING ROOM PLAY PROJECT Tonight at Emmanuel Episcopal Church

Members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Congregation B'nai Amoona and teaching artists from The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis will present The Dining Room Play Project at Emmanuel Episcopal Church's Parish Hall, 9 South Bompart Avenue, Webster Groves, MO, tonight, March 31, from 7pm - 9pm. The event is free and open to the public. A reception, including a discussion with the congregations, teaching artists and audience will follow the presentations.

The Rep developed The Dining Room Play Project after initial discussions with Arts & Faith St. Louis. Teaching artists from The Rep worked with members of the two congregations who were interested in exploring questions of family dynamics, communication and alienation to discuss, develop, write and perform a short scene focused on the issues raised in The Rep's recent Mainstage production of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Through the use of theatre games and improvisation, the groups investigated the following questions: who the "other" is in our lives and why we fear them; how stereotypes and preconceived ideas affect our thoughts and behavior; what occurs as a result of a lack of understanding and dialogue; and what can be done to make situations better, to resolve conflict and to begin to reach an understanding and common ground.

Founded in 1966, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis is a fully professional theatrical operation belonging to the League of Resident Theatres, The League of St. Louis Theatres and is a constituent member of Theatre Communications Group, Inc., the national service organization for the not-for-profit professional theatre.
