The Music Man Photos - West End

Juke box musicals are stage theatrical presentations in which a majority of the compositions were written before the presentation was conceived, rather than being original music conceived for that show.  They tend to be long on songs and short on a well-conceived plot.

TheaterWorksUSA's world premiere of the musical adaptation of Cat Kid Comic Club series by Dav Pilkey opens today, Sunday, July 30, at 3 PM. The limited run is written by the award-winning team of Kevin Del Aguila (book and lyrics) and Brad Alexander(music), with direction and choreography by Marlo Hunter and musical direction by Paul Staroba, and runs through August 27, 2023 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. The Broadway community mourns the loss of legendary actress and recording artist Barbara Cook, who passed away on Tuesday, August 8th at age 89. The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York were dimmed in her memory on yesterday, August 9th at exactly 7:45pm for one minute.

Walnut Street Theatre concludes its landmark 205th season with an all-new production of Broadway's Tony Award-winning Best Musical, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. The international cabaret star Mark Nadler, who opened his new club act, 'Crazy 1961,' on December 1 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, was drenched by the time he came off stage. Nadler, a whirling dervish if there every was one, tops off his mile-a-minute survey of the year 1961 with a ten-minute 50-song medley of the 50 top hits of the year. All told, Nadler packs over 61 songs and 61 newsworthy events in an hour-long show.

Fifty years after her legendary Carnegie Hall debut, The New York Pops remembers Hollywood icon Judy Garland with a song-for-song re-creation of the 1961 performance that is referred to by so many as 'the greatest night in show business history'. Last night, under the baton of Music Director Steven Reineke, Broadway luminary Ashley Brown, Grammy Award winner Heather Headley and West Side Story star Karen Olivo take the stage in this vibrant revival of the historic concert, which features signature Garland favorites, such as 'Over the Rainbow', 'The Trolley Song', 'Come Rain or Come Shine' and 'The Man That Got Away'.
