Bernard Calloway in the title role, will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, November 7 - December 26 -- one week earlier than usual -- in order to give more San Diego families the chance to attend affordably priced performances. Michael Arden, Kelli Barrett, Bill Berloni, Robert Fairchild, Sutton Foster, Lesli Margherita,  Andrea McArdle, Orfeh, Hugh Panaro, Kate Rockwell, Jarrod Spector and Alysha Umphress all took part in Best in Shows, a star-studded cabaret evening to benefit the Humane Society of New York, at Feinstein's/ 54 Below.  Oscar and Tony Award-winner Joel Grey was awarded the first annual Humane Society of New York's Sandy Award, presented to an artist who has shown a fierce commitment, through action and advocacy, to the cause of animal rights. Following its triumphant season in London's West End, one of the greatest musicals of all time comes to Sydney opening at the Capitol Theatre on 30 October with an extra week of performances (25 to 29 November). The season has since been extended to Sunday 29 November. From Sydney Cats tours to Hobart, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide finishing in Perth in 2016. It's been 30 years since Claude-Michel Schönberg &Alain Boublil's phenomenon of a musical opened in London. LES MISERABLES originally opened in London at the Barbican Theatre on October 8, 1985. It transferred to the Palace Theatre on 4 December 1985 where it ran for 19 years before moving to its current home at the Queen's Theatre on 3 April 2004 where it has already played for 11 years and looks set to at least equal the run at the Palace Theatre as it is still playing to standing room only. When Les Miserables celebrated its 21st London birthday on 8 October 2006, it became the World's Longest Running Musical, surpassing the record previously held by Cats in London's West End. West End stars Kerry Ellis and Louise Dearman came together for a one-off concert at the Prince Edward Theatre in London's West End. Kerry and Louise have known each other for nearly 20 years and have not duetted since leaving Laine Theatre Arts in 1998. Between them they have played nearly every iconic leading female role including Elphaba in Wicked, Nancy in Oliver, Eva Peron in Evita, Grizabella in Cats to name but a few. Their careers haven't allowed them to perform together...until now. For the first time these two true glamour Cats performed together on the same stage with an evening of iconic duets sung by these two fabulous leading ladies. (more...)
